The Nigerian Cartographic Association (NCA) has announced its 23rd Annual Conference/Workshop and Annual General Meeting (AGM) to rub minds on modern Geography Information System (GIS) and digital cartography.
According to a statement made available to IT World signed by the Secretary to the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Mr. M.A. Adejoh, the theme of the conference/workshop is “GIS in Nation Building” which would hold on November 5, 2002 at the National Centre for Women Development in Abuja.
Vice-President Atiku Abubakar is expected to be the special guest at the occasion while the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Alhaji F.A. Kassim would deliver a keynote address and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Engr. Muhammed Abba-Gana, will be the chief host, the statement said.
The statement further revealed the sub-themes as among others; “Cartography in the new resource development, Cartography in environmental management and Cartography in electoral process.”
Modern computerised cartography solutions will be discussed with greater commitment and emphasis to systematic video presentation, the statement said.
