Australia: MapData Sciences Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Esri Australia, announced a company name change. Effective April 1, 2011, the new name is MapData Services Pty Ltd.
“We believe the name MapData Services will allow us to better represent our business as it reflects the company’s long-term strategy to advance an all-encompassing full location-based service proposition” said General Manager Cassandra Barker. The name change will be accompanied by a re-branding initiative and new market offerings.
According to the company’s press statement, they needed a new name that better described the company and its service proposition. They believe the name change will help create a more distinctive identity for current and future development efforts and service offerings. With the market dynamics rapidly changing businesses need to be nimble to deliver meaningful services to gain business advantage through location-based services.
