Map Asia 2004 begins in China

Map Asia 2004 began in Bejing yesterday, 26th August, 2004. Founded in the year 2002, Map Asia 2004 is the largest Annual Asian conference and Exhibition in the field of GIS, GPS, Aerial Photography and Remote Sensing. Responding to the needs of the industry the research community and every individual’s right to geospatial information, Map Asia 2004 is the 3rd international initiative aimed to provide an apt platform for the convergence, sharing and use of geospatial technologies. The theme of the conference is Building Asia: Enabling g-Lateral ties.

The conference was inaugurated in the Beijing International Conference Centre in China. The inaugural ceremony witnessed speeches from Mr. Chen Bangzhu, Director General of State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping (SBSM), China, Dr. M P Narayanan, President, Centre for Spatial Database Management and Solutions (CSDMS), India, Mr. Korn Thapparansi, Hon’ble Minister of Science and Technology, Royal Thai Government, Dr Prithvis Nag, Surveyor General, Survey of India, Zhang Jixian, Acting President, Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping, CASM and Mario T Tabucanan, Provost, AIT, Thailand.
