Malaysia wants smarter water utilities

Malaysia: The use of spatial technology is gaining momentum across Malaysia as more and more companies look for smarter ways to maximizing returns on asset investments. In fact, Malaysian government organizations such as Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) have already turned to Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to ensure they are making the most out of their assets.

Stressing on the importance of advanced smart mapping technology, Esri Malaysia CEO Lai Chee Siew has said, “Using GIS technology, network asset managers can instantly determine the location, condition, and ongoing cost of maintenance for high-value equipment. They can see patterns of damage, leakage and loss and make more informed decisions when it comes to repair or redeployment of assets.”
