Hong Kong: CSR plc, global provider of innovative silicon and software solutions for location-aware apps and Hong Kong- based Maestro wireless solutions have announced the release of A5100-A — a next-generation SiRFstarV™ Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) positioning module. The latest module integrates high performance GLONASS and GPS receiver technology in a small 10 x 15 mm package and is perfect for an extensive range of applications including wearable devices, automotive trackers and cameras.
The A5100-A obtains unparalleled accuracy with quad-constellation support, up to 30 per cent faster Time-To-First-Fix, and up to 20 per cent lower power consumption using CSR plc’s TricklePowerTM and Push-to-Fix (PtF) modes. The new module also minimizes development risks by integrating a number of features including SAW filter, TCXO, RTC, antenna control mechanism and flash memory for future-proof upgrades. The castellated edge form factor also enables simpler manufacturing and reduces assembly cost.

Concurrent GNSS performance enables the A5100-A to select the best satellites from different constellations and render optimal location information. Immediate advantages are enhanced stability, improved coverage, and accuracy in difficult environments, such as urban canyons, and stronger resilience to multipath and signal jamming. This ensures users maintain a position fix whether they’re in the middle of a busy city or in a remote rural location. The new product captures and tracks all visible GLONASS, GPS, SBAS and QZSS satellites.
