Logica wins $3.5 million GIS integration contract with Dominion

Logica has announced that it has signed a contract with Dominion to integrate a suite of GIS and GIS Design tool products for its integrated utility business solution. Dominion, headquartered in Richmond, VA, has nearly 4 million electric and natural gas customers and has engaged Logica to implement upgraded GIS system and engineering design tool capabilities, integrated with Logica’s work management solution for its Electric Business Unit; as well as to integrate work management software with a GIS design tool at Dominion’s Gas Business Unit.

For Dominion’s Electric Business Unit, the project entails managing migration from ESRI’s ArcInfo 7 platform and Miner & Miner’s JPDE Design Tool to ESRI’s ArcGIS 8.1 platform and Miner & Miner’s ArcFM 8.1 software and Designer applications. Using a proven, innovative integration approach, Logica will develop the key interfaces to legacy systems such as Dominion’s Trouble Reporting System.

Further, Logica will implement interfaces to other applications that are part of the Electric Business Unit’s integrated solution: remote field applications that include MapFrame’s FieldSmart View and EngHouse’s PowerWORKS ADP (Automated Plat Design) for underground residential electric services; and Logica’s industry leading work management product — WMIS, the Work Management Information System. The Electric Unit upgrade will be completed in March 2003.
