JOHOR BAHARU, Malaysia: In an effort to curb rising vehicle thefts, a local automotive company has come forward to install anti-theft gadget for free. LM Star Autoworld Sdn Bhd will fix the “Smart Tracker” anti-theft system in “Trekker” and “Tourer” vehicles produced by the Johor Baharu-based company.
The system, a combination of the GPS technology and GIS, will also be installed for free in imported cars distributed by Lulus Motor Sdn Bhd.
LM Star Autoworld chairman Datuk Abdullah Shikh (rpt Shikh) Mohamad said his company will spend RM2,500 for each vehicle fitted with the gadget.
LM Star Autoworld expects to install this year 500 units of the system in imported cars distributed by Lulus Motor and LMG models produced by LM Star Autoworld. LMGs are being sold in Malaysia and Indonesia.
