LIS commissioned in Nigeria

Sivan Design, a provider of GIS-ERP turnkey solutions, has announced the successful commissioning of PLAGIS – Geographic Information System with ERP capabilities for land and cadastre management in Plateau State Nigeria.

Executive President of Nigeria – Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan said that supplying the government with modern information systems will allow it to better manage its resources, therefore such systems should be installed in every state of the federation. The first land Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) was issued to the President by the state government.

PLAGIS is a unit of the Ministry of Land, Survey and Town Planning of Plateau state. One of the goals of this administration was to control urban development by modernising the processes of land titling.

In 2006, Sivan Design commissioned FELIS – the Federal Land Information System which is used to manage Federal land and resources. Since then, similar systems have been installed in Benue, Nasarawa, Niger, Kwara, and Kaduna states while other systems are planned to be installed in the near future.
