Heerbrugg, Switzerland: Leica Geosystems’ Geomatics division has become an Esri Gold Tier Partner within the Esri Partner Network. Leica Geosystems has developed a surveying extension for ArcGIS – called Leica MobileMatriX – with an interface to a variety of different surveying sensors such as Total Stations, GPS, Levels and more. In 2010, Leica Geosystems also released Leica Zeno GIS, a GNSS/GIS suite of products that seamlessly extend the GIS database from the office to the field.
According to Leica’s press statement, this partnership will help to further expand the use of ArcGIS technology in the surveying and mobile GIS market. Leica is developing own-branded solutions on ArcGIS technology and after this partnership it becomes authorised to market them as Solution OEM bundles worldwide.
The extended relationship with Esri will allow Leica Geosystems to further design, develop and support ArcGIS compliant software for the surveying and mobile GIS market. With this relationship, Leica Geosystems can better facilitate and support the users’ desire to collect GIS data with surveying equipment while having a direct interface between the field and an ArcGIS database.
“Partnership strengthens Esri user community’s ability to enhance their productivity with a direct field-to-office workflow,” said Johannes Hotz, Senior Product Manager of Leica Geosystems. “It gives our customers the security that Leica Geosystems and Esri jointly develop the surveying and mobile GIS market and that Leica Geosystems receives all the support needed from the Esri Partner Network to deliver world-class products and solutions for the surveying and mobile GIS market,” Hotz added.
