Leica Geosystems GIS & Mapping, LLC is pleased to announce that it is a non-exclusive reseller of the Emerge Digital Sensor System (DSS). The Emerge DSS is a medium-format sensor that captures high-quality, digital rectifiable imagery, and is developed by the Emerge Sensor Group (Andover, Massachusetts, USA) and assembled and calibrated for Emerge by Applanix Corporation (Ontario, Canada).

The Emerge DSS is an affordable, pilot-operated color and color infrared (IR) digital sensor. Users have the choice of using 35 or 55 mm lenses to cover a wide range of project requirements. Shutter speed options range from 1/125 – 1/4000 of a second and are capable of collecting ground sample distances ranging from 0.15-meter to 1-meter. The sensor is ruggedized and includes a fully integrated flight management system and Applanix’s Position and Orientation System for Airborne Vehicles (POS AV). One internal pressurized 80 GB disk for high altitude collection and one external removable disk, provide data storage for imagery and navigation data.

The Emerge DSS is ideal for applications such as corridor surveying, and orthophoto productions for medium-sized projects. On the ground, analysts will use the included software suite of Applanix and Emerge applications for integrated inertial/GPS data processing, exterior orientation parameter calculation, sensor calibration and radiometric processing. It can be installed in some of the smallest, most efficient aircraft or helicopters, making data collection for small area collections such as municipalities affordable to the customer and profitable to the acquisition firm.

Following initial processing, imagery can be used directly or post-processed in GIS, photogrammetric or remote sensing applications such as digital mapping, 3D visual analysis and feature collection (offered by Leica Geosystems’ IMAGINE OrthoBASE, IMAGINE VirtualGIS and ERDAS Stereo Analyst,respectively).
