Leica Geosystems joins ESRI

Leica Geosystems GIS & Mapping, LLC is pleased to announce it has joined ESRI’s Corporate Alliance Program. Through this program, ESRI (Redlands, California, USA) works with technology leaders to deliver complete GIS solutions to joint customers. The decision to join the program strengthens the relationship between Leica Geosystems and ESRI, and coincides with the release of Leica Geosystems’ new ESRI Extension products, Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS and Image Analysis for ArcGIS. For more than 20 years, ERDAS, acquired by Leica Geosystems in 2001, has worked closely with ESRI, the world leader in GIS software, to bring geospatial imaging technology tools to GIS and mapping desktop users. ERDAS brought the market the ArcView Image Analysis Extension, which provides a fast image display capability that supports interactive viewing and control of large image files, significantly enhancing any ArcView GIS project that incorporates imagery as an element of the workflow. Additionally, the Vector module within ERDAS IMAGINE provides direct access to ESRI vector formats and processing, and translators to and from other vector formats; and the raster engine of ESRI’s flagship product suite, ArcGIS, is built upon ERDAS technology.

Most recently, Leica Geosystems collaborated with ESRI to bring the market Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS and Image Analysis for ArcGIS, released worldwide in May 2003. Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS creates and maintains highly accurate GIS data and information that is stored in ESRI’s Geodatabase and used for analysis, digital mapping and visualization. Image Analysis for ArcGIS prepares and creates ‘GIS-ready’ imagery from airborne sensors, extracts information from imagery and analyzes imagery to create spatial and non-spatial information.
