Georgia, USA, 29 May 2007: Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging announced the Beta release of Leica TITAN and launch of the Leica TITAN Network at Where 2.0 conference held at San Jose, California. Empowered by a 3D virtual globe, this dynamic online solution allows users and communities to share geospatial and location based content in a single, secure environment.

“Users and organizations need a central, safe environment to discover, share, visualize, and retrieve geospatial data, web services, and location based information,” said Mladen Stojic, Director of Enterprise and Visualization Products, Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging. He added,“With a high performance 3D virtual globe, Leica TITAN provides this vibrant solution, with enhanced features, allowing interactive communication, collaboration, and sharing of information.”

Leica TITAN is an interactive 3D gateway that provides a content forum to view, access, communicate and ultimately share geospatial data with users from around the world. Leica TITAN provides an online geospatial forum for communities to share and distribute geospatial content (images, terrain, 3D models, vector data).

The primary driver behind Leica TITAN is to build a community of organizations and users that want to maintain rights to their geospatial data, while simultaneously offering other users within the community the ability to discover, access and visualize the data in a secure environment. Members access the community and participate in the TITAN network through a free 3D rich client application.

The Leica TITAN client application allows local users to publish and share geospatial data with a global network of users. Similarly, local users can search, discover and access global data, locally on their desktops. Leica TITAN allows for the creation of the geospatial equivalent to ‘MySpace’. Similar to online social network concepts, users will be able to create, publish and share a geospatial ‘MyWorld’ which contains rich geospatial content authored by a user.
