Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging acquires IONIC

Norcross, USA, 19 June 2007: Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging, LLC has announced that it has acquired all outstanding shares of IONIC Software, a geospatial software company headquartered in Liege, Belgium, as well as all the shares of the related American company IONIC Enterprise. The acquisition was made for an undisclosed amount, with date of closing to be determined.

Vincent Dessard, CEO, IONIC Software said, “The RedSpider product line will enhance Leica Geosystems’ expertise in developing photogrammetry, remote sensing, and visualization solutions to much larger enterprise-wide markets.”

IONIC’s RedSpider product line has a comprehensive, service-oriented architecture (SOA), with a highly developed open standards-based JAVA/J2EE platform and development framework (API).

Moving forward, the IONIC and Leica Geosystems product portfolios will be maintained and new solutions will be developed using existing technologies of both companies.
