Georgia, USA, 25 June 2007: Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging announced the development of a TerraSAR-X processing capability for ERDAS IMAGINE Radar Mapping Suite 9.1.

The new Radar mapping suite will allow users to display and manipulate images captured by the TerraSAR-X satellite which was launched recently. The Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite, transmits X-band radar images which also has capability to penetrate cloud cover and requiring few ground control points.

It is also said that Remote Sensing Technology Institute of the DLR has assisted Leica Geosystems in developing the new suite for processing radar images. Using TerraSAR-X data and ERDAS IMAGINE Radar mapping suite, both remote areas and perennially cloud-covered terrain can be mapped and analyzed.

Leica Geosystems recently announced, IMAGINE InSAR (providing an interface for a robust extraction process, increasing the accuracy of digital elevation models DEMs). The other radar mapping products available from Leica include IMAGINE Radar Interpreter, IMAGINE OrthoRadar and IMAGINE StereoSAR DEM.
