Qatar: Officials from the Qatar Meteorological Centre’s Mobile Weather Station
conducted an educational workshop at the Doha College. As part of the workshop, students were shown various satellite images which are used in predicting weather patterns.
By observing the satellite imagery, students were able to see the impact of climate change and El Nino events in the Gulf. Students also learnt about the importance of constantly observing weather conditions because agriculture and aerospace depend on the information these observations produce.
“The mobile weather centre provides the opportunity to look at very high-tech pieces of equipment and ask questions about the weird weather we are having at the moment and how can dust storms be tracked across the Saudi deserts,” said student leader Gareth Stokes.
