Lagos gets GIS unit for power supply

Nigeria: In a renewed effort to boost power supply in Lagos State, the management of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), has inaugurated a GIS unit in the State. It has been installed by Hafmani Nigeria Limited at the Lagos Island business unit of Eko Electricity Distribution Zone. It aims to monitor all power related problems in the state for prompt routine maintenance and repairs.

Hafmani, which is the technology consultant to the PHCN, has started a nationwide training for staff of the PHCN to meet the operational standard of the GIS equipment.

Ayo Obilomo, CEO, Eko Electricity Distribution Zone, said, “The GIS project is not the only innovative package and solution to stable power supply but also a step toward providing other solutions to power problems.” While emphasising on the importance of the power solution facility, Rashidat Usman, CEO, Hafmani Nigeria Limited, said that the PHCN had taken the right step through the installation of the GIS unit to provide a lasting solution to power failure in Nigeria.
