Kuwait has been examining the prospect of obtaining a reconnaissance satellite for both civilian and military applications. The sheikdom has been exploring the feasibility of obtaining either a reconnaissance satellite or the services of an existing facility for a range of missions. The sources said this would include both civilian applications, such as environmental monitoring, as well as military applications. The ground station could begin operations by 2008.The feasibility study would first have to be completed, to be followed by training for Kuwaiti personnel.
