Korea to launch multi-purpose sat Arirang-5 in 2012

Seoul, South Korea: South Korea is set to launch a multi-purpose satellite named Arirang-5 in 2012, according to the Korea Aerospace Research Institute. In addition, three more satellites are also expected to be launched, a Korean daily reported.

According to the report, Arirang-5 is the first Korean satellite, equipped with Synthetic Aperture Radar, which allows it to produce image information in cloudy weather and dark nights.
