Kitanihon Shipbuilding chooses Intergraph Smart 3D for ship design

Japan: Japanese shipbuilder Kitanihon Shipbuilding has opted for Intergraph’s Smart 3D design solution for it’s upcoming projects from its shipyard in Hachinohe City. Smart 3D is believed to be an innovative engineering technology that streamlines marine asset design processes and improves delivery schedules, with increased detail and manufacturing design productivity of up to 30 percent. Kitanihon is responsible for the construction of high-specification medium-sized ships, tankers and carriers exceeding 30,000 tons deadweight for a range of local and international clients. Given that these complex projects require market-leading design and engineering solutions to achieve maximum productivity, it’s no surprise that the company undertook the search for a new 3D design solution.
