Thiruvananthapuram, India, November 30, 2007: K Radhakrishnan, Director of National Remote Sensing Agency, took over as Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) succeeding B N Suresh.
Mr. Suresh will continue as Director of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, recently started by ISRO in the state capital.
Radhakrishnan, who started his career in ISRO as an Avionics Engineer at the VSSC, subsequently held several key positions in ISRO including Director of Regional Remote Sensing Service Centres and Director of Budget and Economic Management Analysis of entire ISRO. He also held several decisive roles in the international level as Vice Chairman of Inter governmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO and Founder Chairman of Indian Ocean Global Ocean Observing System. He was a member of the Indian delegation to the UN Committee on Peaceful use of Outer Space since June 2006.
