Jordan: The Jordanian Ministry of Water and Irrigation is slated to begin using remote sensing and satellite images to monitor the impact of climate change and drought on the country”s green cover and water resources, the Jordan Times reported.

The new technology will be used within the framework of a project that aims to improve water resources management.

It will help the ministry better evaluate and manage such resources during droughts or floods, according to Bassem Tulfah, the ministry”s secretary-general.

The ministry is implementing the project alongside the Global Environment Fund, the World Bank and the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
