Japan: As a part of promoting Japan International Cooperation Agency’s (JICA) distance technical cooperation scheme, popularly known as JICA-NET, JICA Bangladesh organised a nine-day (which was held from January 14 to March 18, 2009) distance learning seminar titled “Remote Sensing and GIS Course” at its office. The programme was supported by Japan Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Japan.
JICA-Net, a comparatively new initiative of JICA, was established as an instrument of providing technical cooperation using wide range of information and communication technologies such as video conferencing, multimedia contents and distance lectures and seminars. JICA-Net aims for creating a bridge among different countries of the world for knowledge and information sharing.
The seminar consisted of lecture and presentations followed by question-answer and examination sessions. These lectures were delivered by Professor Shunji MURAl, the University of Tokyo /Keio University.
