Japanese district to use aerial mapping for emergency response

Japan: The Chiba district administration has entered into an agreement with the Geographical Survey Institute of Japan. The agreement is aimed at promoting the use of geospatial technology for reducing emergency response time.

The Geographical Survey Institute will provide before-and-after aerial images of the areas hit by natural disasters. Emergency response teams will use these images to find the worst hit areas. The institute will also help with technical guidance for effective use of geographic information.
