Japan to develop new satellite to monitor N. Korea: Report

Japan has decided to develop a new military satellite capable of monitoring North Korea’s missile and nuclear activities, a Japanese newspaper reported.

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun said the Japanese government has allocated a total of 62.4 billion yen (US$602 million) in next year’s budget for intelligence satellite-related activities, of which 4.5 billion yen will be used toward developing the new satellite.
