New Director sees “exciting and challenging time” of change at Ordnance Survey
Jan Hutchinson has been appointed as Director of Human Resources with national mapping agency Ordnance Survey.
She was until recently Customer Services Director with Goldfish – the banking business of Centrica plc. She joined Centrica in 1997 and has held four senior posts in the company over the past five years: Head of Organisation Development and Management Development; Human Resources Director (Retail); HR Director (Information Services); and latterly Customer Services Director (Goldfish).
Before joining Centrica, her professional career included spells with OASiS Consultants, Deloitte and Touche, and Standard Life Assurance Company.
Ms Hutchinson, who was born and brought up in Edinburgh, now lives in Twickenham. Her out-of-work interests include amateur photography.
Ms Hutchinson succeeds Bryan Nanson, who retires at the end of May after over 29 years service to Ordnance Survey, latterly as Director of Human Resources and Corporate Services. A Fellow of the British Computer Society and Member of the Institute of Directors, Mr Nanson joined Ordnance Survey in 1973 as a systems analyst and rose to become Director of Information Management in 1994 before taking on the Human Resources role.
Ordnance Survey’s Director General and Chief Executive, Vanessa Lawrence, comments: “I am delighted to be welcoming Jan Hutchinson to our team – her experience in managing organisational change, along with developing and implementing business structures, customer contact strategies and remuneration issues, will be invaluable to us.”
