Jakarta: Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Department will conduct the mapping of fire-prone areas in the capital city. Eventually, there will be categorisation of fire-prone area, ranging from mild, moderate, and severe. By doing so, the placement of fire extinguishers can also be mapped in such areas.
The aim is to minimise fire disaster, including fire extinguishers or locally called as pawang geni that will be distributed to residents. “Besides maintaining continuity of human resources and equipment, we also want to focus more on society empowerment. Thus when there is a fire, people can overcome it first, especially in fire-prone areas which reached 56 places. Later on, we classify the level of places prone to fire, from mild, moderate, and severe,” stated Subejo, Head of Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Department.
