Iunctus to operate new SPOT receiving station

Iunctus Geomatics signed a contract with SPOT IMAGE to purchase a SPOT receiving station and receive telemetry from the SPOT satellite constellation. The station will be located in Lethbridge, Alberta, and will collect imagery over much of Canada and the United States, serving clients in both countries. Iunctus is the exclusive SPOT channel partner responsible for all commercial activity in the Canadian market.

The “Easy Link to SPOT” (ELS) receiving station includes a dish antenna and SPOT 5 Terminal, which will automate all operations from data reception to production. The agreement covers reception of data from the SPOT 2, SPOT 4 and SPOT 5 satellites.

The SPOT Image Group, headquartered in Toulouse, France, and its five subsidiaries in the United States, Australia, Singapore, China and Japan draw on a global network of ground receiving stations, channel partners and distributors to bring satellite imaging and geographic information solutions to private- and public-sector decision-makers the world over. SPOT Image launched its first satellite in 1986 and is the oldest commercial satellite imaging company in the world today.

SPOT Image is the commercial operator of the SPOT system. The three SPOT satellites currently in orbit can acquire imagery of almost any point on the globe every day.

IUNCTUC Geomatics Corp. is a privately owned company that provides geomatic services and software to support industry specific solutions. Their expertise includes the application and processing of imagery, and developing the software and systems needed to optimize client’s exploitation of geo-spatial technologies.
