ISRO’s BIG plans for the world

India: The Indian Space Research Organisation is hoping that its BIG offer would be lapped up by the market and benefit the public. BIG is an acronym for the Web-based GIS tool called Bhuvan, Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System or IRNSS and GPS Aided Geo Augmented Navigation, which is also known as Gagan. We told you earlier this month that Gagan has begun operations to provide accurate navigation services over the Bay of Bengal, south-east Asia, the Indian Ocean, Middle East and African regions. Meanwhile, IRNSS is providing independent satellite-based navigation services over Indian region. And Bhuvan is offering 2D and 3D imagery of Indian locations.
