Thiruvananthapuram, India: Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) offered satellite imagery of Sabarimala area to Kerala State Government for taking measures to prevent disasters like the stampede that claimed 102 lives last week.
Dr K Radhakrishnan, Chairman, ISRO, said that 3D images will help the government and Temple Board (Travancore Devaswom) improve infrastructure in Sabarimala area and help avoid such mishaps in future. “To avert such disasters in future, we are ready to provide three dimensional pictures to the state government. They could provide a clear view of each and every landscape,” said the Chairman.
With the support of Government of India, ISRO had already prepared a databank of peripheral pictures of around 200districts in the country. The agency would soon expand the programme across the country, the ISRO Chairman said.
Dr T K Alex, Director, ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC) said the satellite pictures by the ISRO has demands even among developed countries.
