Israeli imaging firm to map Nigeria

Nigeria: Federal Ministry of Works, Nigeria, collaborated with an Israel-based imaging company, Ofek Arial, to map Nigeria. Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen, said that satellite mapping will help the country in mitigating natural disasters. The ministry is also considering developing a GIS database.

“Accurate mapping of all land parcels will reduce cases of environmental and other natural disasters,” he added.

The ministry is also collaborating with the surveyor-general to map the whole country.

“Ofek Arial and surveyor-general will digitally map the entire country. This would solve the problem of inadequate infrastructure, incidence of natural disasters and mitigating them,” he said.
