California: Google has apologised for accidentally wiping the Scottish island of Jura from its Maps service.
Google Maps appeared to have destroyed the entire Scottish island of Jura in its update. The island of Jura was totally absent from Google Maps – although several of its roads, landmarks and addresses were still accessible. Google has said the deletion of Jura – famed for its whisky distilleries, and with a population of about 188 people – was a mistake. A Google spokeswoman told the BBC: “We are sorry about that. We hope to have the map of Jura back to normal as soon as possible.”
