18 September 2002 – IONIC Software has won a contract with Hutchison 3G UK Limited. The contract includes a License Agreement to purchase IONIC’s Off-The-Shelf products as well as a Service Agreement to integrate these products within H3G’s global enterprise system.
The IONIC products will initially be deployed by Hutchison 3G in the UK and then made available in all other countries where Hutchison Whampoa has 3G interests.
Hutchison 3G will use IONIC products for their Location based platform to produce maps, search and database navigation, using the latest geospatial international standards including the Web Feature Server (WFS), using GML, and Web Map Server (WMS), as well as the IONIC Portrayal Pro Engine. These Enterprise Java components products conform with Open GIS Consortium, ISO/TC 211 and W3C standard interfaces, specifications and guidelines
Key factors behind Hutchison 3G’s selection of IONIC are their highly innovative performing products – available as scalable J2EE components, and integration expertise by the skilled work-force of IONIC team. IONIC’s leading position within the Open GIS Consortium for the development of standards-based interoperable geo-enabling technologies also played a major role in the decision.
This enables Hutchison to take advantage of best-of-breed location components in the future with a minimum of impact to Hutchison 3G’s overall system architecture.
