Berlin: Building Information Modelling (BIM) is on a rise. Many small and large companies are facing the challenge to embrace the change – from the integration of new technologies to the re-structuring of existing work processes. The Tekla European BIM Forum 2014, held recently in Berlin, saw a confluence of decision makers from the European construction industry along with international experts from the industry, research and education institutes, and the public sector. The experts discussed about the challenges and opportunities of BIM. The conference featured speakers, among others, from renowned construction and engineering companies such as Ballast Nedam, Skanska, DPR Construction and Max Bogl. In her welcome address to 200 attendees, Ambassador Paivi Luostarinen from Embassy of Finland in Berlin, stressed upon the importance of adopting new technologies for European industry to become globally competitive. The event focused on three central themes, examining the Standards, Strategies and Processes for the successful implementation and utilisation of BIM.
