On December 10th, 2001, a new non-profit professional organization ‘the International Association of Chinese Professionals in Global Positioning Systems (CPGPS)’ was founded and registered in Calgary, Canada. The members are Chinese and other interested professionals from academic institutions and industrial sectors. The association is currently headquatered at the University of Calagry, Alberta, Canada. The first president is Dr. Yang Gao at the university.
The goals of the association are to promote professional communication among the members as well as peer professionals and to help advance the art and science of Global Positioning Systems by participating in related research and professional activities. A peer-reviewed international publication, ‘the Journal of Global Positioning Systems’ has been officially established in order to deliver research findings and exchange ideas. The editor-in-chief is Dr. Jinling Wang at the University of New South Wales, Australia. A newsletter is to be set up for seeking advice, offering consultation, and debating issues.
The association is also interested in interacting with industrial and government sectors for any cooperative matters.
