Intergraph Corporation has announced that The Empire District Electric Company has purchased Intergraph’s configurable commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions, G/Electric for GIS management and InService, for outage and mobile workforce management. Based in Joplin, Missouri, EDE is an investor-owned utility that provides electric service to approximately 150,000 customers in southwest Missouri, southeast Kansas, northeast Oklahoma, and northwest Arkansas.

G/Electric and InService will provide EDE with a Geospatial Resource Management (GRM) environment, in which pre-integrated software products support a seamless workflow among applications that provision and maintain its service-delivery network. Users can analyse and dispatch routine service-related work orders and trouble orders from a single environment, eliminating the traditional barrier between commercial and operational units and providing customers with superior service response. InService’s outage management capability will enable EDE to manage day-to-day network operations more efficiently and reduce restoration time during power outages throughout its 10,000 square-mile service territory.
