Intergraph bags contract for geofacilities management system

Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions announced that Gaz Metro has chosen to upgrade its existing FRAMME-based AM/FM/GIS application to G/Gas, Intergraph’s geofacilities management solution based on gas distribution industry best practices. A leading Quebec energy company and one of Canada’s largest natural gas distributors, Gaz Metro provides gas and services to more than 150,000 customers and has an underground distribution and transmission system of almost 10,000 kilometers.

The implementation of G/Gas will provide Gaz Metro with the foundation for a complete Geospatial Resource Management (GRM) environment based on a commercial off-the-shelf system using non-proprietary programming tools. G/Gas will help streamline day-to-day work processes, facilitate integration with key corporate systems such as Gaz Metro’s SAP PM and serve as a platform for ongoing application extensions, maintenance and upgrades. Immediately, G/Gas will assist Gaz Metro in the planning and design of their rapidly expanding network as well as the quick response to the company’s One Call “Call before you Dig” program. The centralized system will improve data access for Gaz Metro employees such as project planners, drafting staff, inspectors and maintenance teams in the field.

Intergraph will provide data conversion, migration, set up and installation service for the project, which is estimated for completion by June 2005.
