Institution of Surveyors Malaysia gets new president

Malaysia: Elvin Fernandez has been elected president of the Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (ISM) for the year 2010-2011, taking over from associate professor Wan Maimun Wan Abdullah of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

Fernandez, who worked as managing director of Khong & Jaafar Sdn Bhd, was ISM deputy president in 2009-2010. He has also worked as the chairman of the International Valuation Standards Committee, the Association of Valuers and Property Consultants in Private Practice Malaysia. He was a valuation officer with the Ministry of Finance’s Valuation and Property Services Division from 1979 to 1982. In 2006, he won the Property Consultant of the Year 2005 award.
