Indonesia receives $331,646 grant for NSDI
Indonesia: Bakosurtanal, The Geospatial Information Agency of Indonesia has received a $ 331,646 Technical Assistance (TA) grant from the US Government to develop the country’s National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).
Part of the grant will be used to conduct technical trainings and capacity building workshops. “While technology is advancing at a very rapid pace and is allowing people to come up with more innovative ways to do things efficiently, developing human resource capabilities to handle geospatial information and systems takes a long time,” said Asep Karsidi, Chairman of the Geospatial Information Agency. The larger aim of the grant is to enable Indonesia for developing its own NSDI and disaster management initiatives. Esri has been chosen as the contractor for the project.
