Indonesia launches indigenous satellite Lapan A2

Indonesia: Indonesia launched its indigenous satellite codenamed Lapan A2 using rockets and launch pad in Satish Dhawan Space Centre, India. The satellite weighs 78 kilograms and occupies an orbit lane around the earth's equator at an altitude of 650 kilometers from the earth's surface. The satellite would crisscross Indonesian territory 14 times a day with orbit period of 100 minutes. LAPAN A2 will function as a tool to monitor land usage, ship movements, sea resources and fishing explorations. The satellite has digital camera and video devices to take images of earth from its orbit.
