India: The Karnataka government’s department of IT, BT and S&T, in association with Mobile 10X, is inviting mobile app developers for an 'appathon'. The government wants to develop socially-conscious technological solutions under five themes: engage, inform and educate the job seeker (Department of Employment and Training), clean cities for Swachh Bharat (Department of Municipal Administration), easy reporting and verification of accident FIR (Department of Urban Land Transport), make Karnataka a child labor-free zone (Department of Labor) and easy complaints reporting and redressal system (Department of Municipal Administration). The teams are expected to use latest mobile technology components like location-based services, geo-tagged photos, mobile-based registration and push services.
