India: In a bid to clear traffic congestion and decrease inconvenience to motorists, the city of Mumbai in India is all set to launch a software will map congested roads in real time. The financial hub of the country will divert traffic personnel accordingly and update final status of bottlenecks in the system. An official revealed how the system would work. He said, “Cameras at key junctions in the city will be used to relay information on jammed stretches. The software will grade these stretches in an order of most congested to least congested. Personnel from the nearest traffic police outposts will be diverted to the spot on priority. The time taken to resolve the situation and if vehicular flow is eventually smooth will be logged into the system.”
