Indian univ develops GIS-based tourist info system

Gorakhpur, India: Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Gorakhpur University in India developed a web-based tourist information system (www.easternuptourism.com) for the tourist centre of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. According to the University’s press statement, open source GIS tools were used to develop this system. It has been launched by Prof. NutanTyagi, Department of Geography, DDU Gorakhpur University.

This system provides access to all the tourist spots & facilities tourist needs. Pan, zoom, selection, print, buffer, attribute, spatial search and distance measuring tools are available on the website. Information is linked to all the point in text, text with photographs & video format for virtual sightseeing..
