India: As the cloud cover over flood-hit Chennai makes it difficult for India’s earth observation Cartosat-1 satellite to get clear pictures of the region, the country is now getting images from its radar imaging satellite Risat-1. The satellite pictures are being received at the National Remote Sensing Centre's (NRSC) Earth Station Complex in Telangana. Moreover, the camera in Cartosat-1 has been titled to specifically cover the disaster zone of Tamil Nadu during its orbit. Foreign satellites are also providing images to India as the country is one of the 22 members of the International Charter Space and Major Disasters.
