Indian government to map training infrastructure

India: It is estimated that only 2.3% of the workforce in India has undergone formal skill training as compared to 68% in the UK, 75% in Germany, 52% in USA, 80% in Japan and 96% in South Korea. Therefore, to scale up skill training efforts in the country, the government has launched Skill India mission. The Indian government runs about 12,000 industrial training institutes. And now, it is mapping all existing training infrastructure in the country, including thousands of private training institutes that are not reflected in the official data.Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes, “We should not just map the demand for human resources in India but also globally, and gear up to meet that demand.”
