Indian Chamber of Commerce to develop a risk management system

With the aim to prevent environmental hazards in industrial units handling hazardous chemicals, the Indian Chamber of Commerce, with financial aid from European Commission, has decided to develop a system of risk management. For the first time in the country, the system will find a place in Haldia where 15 industrial units have been identified as risky for dealing in hazardous chemicals.

In a meeting with the representatives of the industrial units and the official of the Haldia Development Authority, the office bearers of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) have recently outlined the aspects of the management of environmental information system, popularly known as Environmental Risk Reporting and Information System (ERRIS). Once the system is in place, the industrial area in Haldia will be safer for investment.
