India: India’s Union Minister for Communications and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad, has announced the launch of National Centre of Geo-Informatics. It will be one of its kind GIS platform for sharing and collaborating GIS data source and location-based analytics that will aid central and state governments in planning, decision-making and electronic delivery of services. Stressing on the formation of a Digital India, the minister also announced several other initiatives from the departments of telecom, posts and electronics and IT. These included a mobile app for Digital Locker and public Wi-Fi spots. Prasad was speaking at his ministry's annual Good Governance Day conference in New Delhi.
