NovaLIS Technologies a provider of integrated land records management solutions is implementing its computer assisted mass appraisal and assessment administration solution in the Lafayette Parish Assessor’s Office. “The NovaLIS system was the unanimous choice of the selection committee,” says Lafayette Parish Assessor Conrad T. Comeaux, regarding the selection of NovaLIS’ Assessment Office solution. One of the primary reasons for this selection was the virtually seamless integration of the CAMA system with the ESRI GIS system-accomplished through the use of a single database. Other items of note were the system’s flexibility, ease of operation, and NovaLIS’ ability to provide the functionality.
Comeaux says that the primary goal behind the implementation of Assessment Office is to provide more fair assessments for the taxpayers. Secondary goals are to analyze data spatially, to increase efficiency in operations, and allow easier access to data by the parish’s customers. “The off-the-shelf functionality of Assessment Office combined with its customizability and unique integration with geographic information systems will provide the parish with a technologically advanced, leading edge solution to its information management and property valuation needs both today and tomorrow.” The parish will start using assessment administration tools in November of this year, and the entire project is slated for completion in June 2004.
