ICT4D kicks off in Hyderabad with high level participation

The ICT4D conference kicks off in Hyderabad’s HICC Convention Centre on 15th May.

India: The ICT4D conference kicks off in Hyderabad’s HICC Convention Centre today. The conference brings together top global thought leaders from public, private and civil society organizations from across the humanitarian and international development community to explore how innovation in technology is making a measurable difference in millions of people’s lives.

K. T. Rama Rao, Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Telangana Government, gave the keynote speech. In his address, Rao lined out the digital vision of Telengana, the youngest state in India. Technology that can’t bring in social change is futile, he said.

Rao also announced that Telengana will launch its Open Data policy later in the day. ICT4D 2017 focuses on using data to accelerate achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Over 1,000+ attendees including C-level executives, senior managers, program leaders, field officers, IT/data managers, and senior technical advisors from disciplines ranging from agriculture, health, education, conservation and disaster management to information and communications technology, data management, GIS/mapping, and financial services are expected to attend the conference.
