Each year, the City of West Hollywood celebrates Pride month through the artistic contributions of the community with the One City One Pride Arts Festival. The arts festival includes a variety of community, visual art, theatre/performance, and music events throughout the City. The City has developed an interactive story map using the City’s new Geographic Information System (GIS).

Utilising the 5 steps to develop story maps, GTG worked with the City to develop an interactive map that highlights the scheduled programs of the One City One Pride Arts Festival. Residents and visitors can use the interactive map to locate programs that are happening around their neighbourhood and across the City.

The map was created by harnessing innovative online mapping technology to make government information easily accessible and improve the City’s communication with the public. GTG worked closely with Francisco Contreras, Innovations Liaison for the City, to harness the power of their existing GIS.
