High-tech train enquiry system to be launched in Indian city

The city of HyderbadIndia: A high-tech train enquiry system for rail commuters will be launched in the Indian city of Hyderabad by the South Central Railway (SCR). The SCR is introducing HYLITES (Hyderabad Live Train Enquiry System), a GPS/GPRS-based smart phone application which operates on android platform. HYLITES is a GPS/GPRS-based smart phone application on android platform, first-of-its-kind on Indian Railways, developed by South Central Railway on out-sourcing basis.

HYLITES displays real time information on the running of all MMTS (Multi-Modal Transport System) trains and live status of arrival/departure timings (with platform numbers) of express/passenger trains at Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Kacheguda stations. The application, which also provides information on a host of other issues useful for rail users of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, will be launched by SCR General Manager P K Srivastava.
